The Albufera de Es Grau Natural Park is a protected area and nucleus of the Biosphere Reserve that is the island of Menorca, designated by UNESCO in 1993.
It is located in the north-east of the island and is known for its great variety of flora and fauna, as well as for its crystal clear waters, its white sand beaches and its underwater Posidonia meadows. The park is an important breeding ground for waterfowl and is a popular destination for active tourism. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Menorca.
The park has numerous points and areas of natural interest such as the Albufera itself, the largest wetland on the island, the En Colom Island, with its beaches of Arenal d'en Moro and Tamarells del sud, the Arenal de Morella beach or En Tortuga cove, the Favàritx cape with its homonymous lighthouse and in the north, the islets of Addaia and Arenal de Mongofre beach.
The island of En Colom is highly protected and is an integral part of the Natural Park, located opposite the town of Es Grau. The island has a great variety of marine life in its posidonia meadows, as well as a great variety of seabirds. A sub-species of the Balearic lizard inhabits the island, the same as in all the islets of Menorca. In addition, it has two sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling, where it is possible to arrive by kayak from the main beach. It is known for its great natural beauty and for being a popular place for water activities.
The natural park partially coincides with the Natura 2000 Network spaces on the East Coast of Menorca, which have a Management Plan approved in 2021 whose purpose is to guarantee the conservation of the values of said spaces.
Our company has the Certificate of adherence to the System of Recognition of Sustainability in Nature Tourism for the spaces on the East Coast of Menorca and the North Marine Area of Menorca.
